Sakkarakkatti - the crab(p) pulling down

In spite of very bad reviews, I decided to watch one of the most expected films recently, Sakkarakkatti. 28-Sep-2008, Sangam Cinemas, Chennai - the 3rd day since the movie was released and being a Sunday, the house was full. The director of the movie, Kalaprabhu, son of film producer, Kalaipuli S Thanu, unfortunately has presented us with a....hmmmmm...non-sense, to be frank. I have to comment like this because I have tasted the likes of Saroja, Raman Thediya Seethai, Subramaniapuram and this film is in no way matching these likes. For me, the fate of a film is decided in the first 20 minutes. Clearly, the audience in the theater were bored in the 20th minute of the film and started commenting. Okay, now for a good film, as a fan, I would see the following things in it to be entertaining. Look at the non-sense in the film against each of the parameter.

1.) Story - Traingle love. Shit man...I beg Tamil cinema to get out of this concept. If you do not have stories, atleast remake some old films. Santhanoo loves his classmate, some X (I forgot her name. I can't imagine her to be a heroine if I make a film. Man..you have to look at her) and Vedika, Santhanoo's cousin is in love with him.

2.) Screenplay - Even when the story is old, it could be a hit with the way you present it to the audience. This film has a childish screenplay. Clearly a screenplay from a LKG guy. Easily predictable scenes. You could hear the audience comment what could happen next in the theater. When the crowd guessed your screenplay right, your film is a 100% flop. None of the characters are worth mentioning, the hero, heroine(s), hero's friends etc. One of the most important element in a film is the background. As far as I am concerned, background is one another "character" of the film. It has the power to suck you into the film. It changes your mood to the mood of the characters. I do not know if there is such a kind in this movie. The college where the hero is studying, his friends, hero's home is no way a Chennai guy's things. Looks like everything is made somewhere in the America.

3.) Characters - As mentioned earlier, none of the characters are worth mentioning. Just stupid. Characters are made thinking Tamil audiences are fools. Characters like Santhanoo's father, mother, sister, brother, friends are roaming on screen for nothing. All these characters, you would have seen somewhere in earlier films. Nilalgal Ravi (Santhanoo's father) is from Kushi, Santhanoo's mother is a useless character which hardly had 2 lines of dialogue in the film. Friends...man..I wonder if a college going Chennai guy would have friends like them...ultra modern..Hard to digest...Also didn't like Santhanoo imitating Sarukh Khan. Could have his own style.

4.) Music - Wanted to say the movie is no way matching the genius of AR Rehman's music. I would love to hear the songs in my iPod rather than on Tv. Music is just been absolutely wasted. Background music is not worth mentioning. Understandably so. Rehman would have himself got bored while scoring background. The begium from "Sillunu Oru Kaadhal" had such a...what to say...some chemical reaction whenever I hear it..Nothing like that in this film..To be honest, there is no scope to score such a high quality begium here..Ocher Studios' (Soundarya Rajinikanth's graphics studio) bullshit continues in this film too. None of the graphics are worth mentioning. All graphics looked like a computer game.

I would not suggest this movie for your weekend. Hope you know the story of crabs in a basket. I am not going to bore you telling the story. One of your friends could sure tell you. Crabs like Saroja, Raman Theidiya Seethai, Subramaniapuram are trying to get "out of the box". Crabs like Sakkarakkati are pulling them down.

Highly disappointed with the movie after much expectation created by AR Rehman's music. I just loved the songs for the past 2 months and would love to hear them in the future in my iPod. Not on Tv.

True that education preaches you information, not ethics

People in my corporate complaint about the behavior of vendor bus drivers among other things. I often thought that some "professionals", again, some "professionals" had to be taught about ethics as well.

1.) Often these people stand near the traffic signal and wave their hands to stop the bus. It is a common sense (you need not be a BE) to stand 100-200 meters after the signal.
2.) All the buses are air suspended and hence have push back. Some buses have minimal leg room and people often tend to push back the seats, unknowing the discomfort of people sitting behind. Most importantly they do not keep the seats upright back again when they get down. This makes the person sitting behind difficult to move out of his seat when he has to get down.
3.) Some people do not hear songs using head phone. They keep their mobile's speaker on. Not all people will be in sync mood while traveling you see. Common sense man. Mobile phones are for personal use. Enjoy your songs in private.
4.) Trying to be relaxed and to show off a "cool" guy image they keep their hands as head rest. You could imagine the person sitting next to him trying to put his nose near the window. You know what I mean I believe.
5.) Do not disturb the driver while he is driving. Even school kids know this. Guys sitting in the front seat continuously talk to the driver showing off their "closeness" to the driver. Man...most irritating scenes. Because the guys talk, drivers often get distracted and drive slow.
6.) You do not believe that these "professionals" throwing wastes such as bubble gum wrappers, biscuit papers etc...You know that these will land ultimately in the lap of people sitting behind. Again common sense. Thank God, I have not seen them spitting yet.

I strongly believe that a person is educated when he has ethics and common sense.

One of the worst behavior of my corporate people is with the lift and the office door. As far as I think there are a couple of lift ethics.

1.) Stand behind the people already waiting for lift. Allow them to go first into it.
2.) Maintain silence inside the lift. Do not giggle to show off your gang image. Respect the mood of others inside.
3.) Wait for the people to get out of the lift before you move in. Also, give them path to leave the lift area.

Oh..yes with the office door..I do not know if I am swiping cards for others to get out. If I open the door, people get out as if I am a gate keeper. Ha ha ha.. People, please wait for others to get in/out whoever has swiped first. Leave them way. Please hold the door open if you see people behind you swiping.

Much much more guys...Discipline will make us grow exponentially. I would suggest my company to teach fresh pass outs ethical behavior during the initial "training". Hmmmm...
